Small straight
10,000 lbs GVWR or less (check the sticker in the driver's door jamb). No CDL or DOT medical card needed when you're not towing a trailer — just your truck and a clean record. Truck rated over 10,000 lbs? Apply as a large straight.

Up to 26,000 lbs GVWR, running coast to coast at 85% of gross. Truck must have a liftgate & pallet jack — load bars a plus. No CDL required; DOT medical card needed.

What you'll need

The basics for owner-operators leasing on with Dash. Requirements scale with the class you drive.
- Your truck — small straight, large straight or Class 8 semi, in safe operating condition.
- A clean driving record — and, for any truck rated over 10,000 lbs GVWR (large straights and Class 8), a current DOT medical card.
- CDL-A for Class 8 — no CDL needed for a single truck at 26,000 lbs GVWR or less (non-hazmat).
